We will be leaving at 9 in the morning and hopefully getting there at around 11 o'clock. it will be a long ride but it will be worth it. When we get there we will be going to the pools it won't be as busy because of us leaving on a school day.

When we are finished at the pools we will be staying the night at a cabin. The next day before we start going back to Chch we will be going jet boating. After we finished the jet boating we will be going back home.

Hokey Pokey

Aim: To make hokey pokey using sugar, golden syrup and baking soda.

When the sugar and golden syrup combine with the baking soda it froths and makes carbon dioaoxide gas. That is why the hokey pokey has bubbles.

Materials:
  1. 2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
  2. 4 tablespoons sugar
  3. 1 Heaped teaspoon of baking soda
  4. Pot
  5. Tablespoon and teaspoon
  6. Bunsen burner
  7. Grease proof paper
Method:
  1. Put 4 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of golden syrup in a saucepan and melt.
  2. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 5 minutes
  3. Add baking soda and stir vigorously.
  4. Put the hokey pokey on a piece of grease prove paper to to cool.
The more the sugar syrup is cooked the browner it becomes. If it is left cooking for to long your hokey pokey becomes burnt.

Diary of a Wild boy

Diary of a wild boy

  • Brando walked around the coastline of New Zealand to be the first NZer to walk around the coastline.

  • He carried a knife, boots, Tent, Bed, Belt, Backpack.

  • This walk was 600 Days

  • He ate Delicious Bacon from big fat pig, seafood

One of the challenges that he faced was a bull, a very hungry bull that hadn't eaten in days… The bull charged so he had to think fast. He had to use the surroundings. There was a tree to his left and a wharf to his right. Just before the bull was in range of contact then he jumps to the right dodging the bull and then the bull rips the life out of the tree.

  • His favourite part of the journey was the kahurangi coast. Also was one of the scariest. To see the beautiful tropical rain forest, and also the giant seafood.

Tell us about Brando’s Canterbury companion. Tash was a girl that he had been talking to before his adventure across NZ. And through the journey they met and she walked around Waikato with him.

  • The trip taught Brando that no matter what he thinks he can’t do he will be able to achieve it.

Ginger Beer

 Ginger Beer

Today we made ginger beer in class. We did this by activating the yeast first by adding sugar to the yeast, putting some ginger and warm water in a cup together. Once we had done this we put it to the side and left it to ferment while we had the rest of the ginger beer. We made the ginger beer in an ice cream container by adding first the sugar, then we put it in a bottle. It is going to take around 6 days to turn it into ginger beer. Mr Palmer is going to keep it in his office for the next week.
